How can I see if communities overlap?
Using the Overlaps Feature
With the Overlaps feature in the IROIN® Influencer Marketing Suite, you can select and analyze up to ten profiles simultaneously to identify follower overlaps. You can make this selection directly from Discovery, your Portfolio, or within the Overlaps tool itself. The tool shows you how much the communities of influencers on a platform overlap, enabling you to make informed decisions for your campaigns.
Why analyzing follower overlaps is important
The main goal is often to maximize the total reach of a campaign by minimizing overlaps between the selected creators. The lower the overlap, the more new users you reach with your message. However, in some cases, it can also make sense to intentionally select influencers with similar communities to create repeated touchpoints within a relevant audience. This is particularly useful for campaigns that rely on recognition effects and community engagement. With Overlaps, you can review and optimize this strategy based on data, ensuring you aren’t surprised at the end of a campaign if the desired impact on website traffic or sales doesn’t materialize.
Limitations of the Analysis
Currently, overlap calculations are only possible within the same platform due to partially insufficient comparability of datasets. This means:

Instagram profiles can only be compared with other Instagram profiles.

YouTube profiles can only be analyzed against other YouTube profiles.

A combination of Instagram, YouTube, or other networks is not possible.

TikTok and other platforms are currently not supported.
How to Use Overlaps in Discovery, Portfolio, or Campaigning
Once you have selected up to ten influencer profiles, a highlighted button labeled “Calculate Overlap” will appear. Clicking this starts the analysis, and within seconds, you can see the detailed results directly in Overlaps. Use this feature strategically to either maximize reach with minimal overlap or to create repeated touchpoints within relevant communities—tailored to your campaign strategy and individual preferences.
Getting Started with the Overlaps Module – Here’s How
In the Overlaps module, you can quickly and easily analyze how much the audiences of your influencers overlap—ideal for strategic campaign planning.
How it works:
Automatic start with your portfolio:
As soon as you open the module, influencers from your portfolio are displayed automatically.
Select the network:
In the top left, you can choose between Instagram and YouTube—depending on which network you want to run the overlap analysis for.
Keep track of available reports:
In the top right, you can see the number of available Overlap Reports for the current month.
Select influencers for analysis:
Mark the desired influencers from your portfolio. Using the “Calculations” tab in the top right, you can add them to your selection list with a single click.
Add external influencers (Discovery):
Want to analyze influencers not yet in your portfolio? No problem! Simply enter the channel name or link in the search field to pull profiles directly from the Discovery module into your report.
Access your created overlaps anytime:
All your created Overlaps can be found in the top right of the module under the “Reports” tab, where all analyses are neatly stored for easy access.
