Can I exclude filters or criteria in the search?
Learn how to refine your search by excluding specific filters or terms
When browsing creator profiles, it can be helpful to deliberately exclude unwanted terms or entire categories. The IROIN® Influencer Marketing Suite allows you to not only enter keywords in the advanced search but also explicitly exclude them to optimize your results.
How to exclude terms
-
Manually exclude a keyword: Click on an added keyword in the search field
and select the “Exclude” option. This hides all creators who use this term in their profile, e.g., in their bio or posts. This is ideal for avoiding irrelevant topics like “competitor” or “unsuitable trends. ”Use the dropdown “Exclude” option: Ignore brand mentions or exclude hashtags to filter out off-topic tags like “#Spam.” Enter brand names, hashtags, or mentions such as “#Competitor” or “@CompetitorBrand” to exclude creators associated with them. This feature is particularly useful to ensure only relevant content appears.
-
Exclude entire categories: Beyond individual mentions, hashtags, and topics, you can also exclude whole areas such as keywords (in posts and/or influencer profiles) or categories via the advanced search settings.
Exclusion in advanced search settings
The IROIN® Suite also allows you to exclude influencers who have collaborated with specific brands. Go to the Advanced Search Settings and use the field “Search criteria MUST NOT match.”
Using drag & drop, you can set the entered search criteria to either keep (MUST), make optional (CAN), or fully exclude (MUST NOT).
Examples of exclusion criteria
-
Exclude brand collaborations: Enter competitor brands like “BrandX” as a keyword (in posts) to ensure no influencers are displayed who have worked with them.
-
Exclude hashtags or mentions: Exclude individual hashtags like “#Irrelevant” or mentions like “@Unsuitable” to focus your campaign on specific topics.
This allows you to target profiles that match your criteria while preventing unwanted results. We still recommend checking the Discovery Report or a creator’s profile to ensure no collaborations with competitors have occurred. Story highlights often reveal interesting insights about previous partnerships, which IROIN® cannot display.
