How do I find suitable influencers in Influencer Search?

Learn how to use our Influencer Search to precisely find creators on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

The Discovery feature of the IROIN® Influencer Marketing Suite is your tool to search for and analyze influencers based on your specific requirements. It helps you discover new collaboration partners, plan campaigns, and efficiently manage data. To start your search, open the Discovery page in the left-hand menu under “Discovery.” Then, click the “Filter” button located to the right of the purple “Start AI Search” button.

This step opens the advanced filter settings, allowing you to customize your search in detail and find exactly the influencers that match your goals.

Filter Settings and Reports in Detail

On your first visit, the filter settings open by default, as shown in the screenshot, directly below the navigation bar. Here you can see options such as “Instagram,” “TikTok,” and “YouTube,” as well as the six filter categories.

Platform Selection and Filter Categories at a Glance

You can switch between Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with each platform offering the same six filter categories. Listed from top to bottom:

Lookalike: Find similar profiles based on existing creators – ideal for discovering new talent with a similar style or a comparable target audience. Learn more about Lookalike here.

General: Use fields such as Hashtags, Mentions, Topic-related text search, or Keywords (in posts or profiles) to search for specific topics or brand mentions. This is important for campaigns with a clear thematic focus or certain hashtags. You can also search by categories, with 26 options available.

Channel (KPIs, Attributes): Narrow down how large a profile should be or what kind of growth a channel shows. Use Engagement Rate as an indicator of a particularly strong community, or set expectations for how many likes or views you want on average. You can also specify when the last post should have been published and which type of profile you’d like to see.
For Instagram, we recommend an engagement rate of at least 3%. For TikTok, values starting at 8% are advisable, and for YouTube, around 2% is a good benchmark. Treat this as an initial indicator and rough guideline. Some niches may not follow these norms, and in certain markets, there’s a smaller pool of creators. In such cases, engagement rate becomes less relevant.

About the Influencer: Filter by age (e.g., 18–65+), gender, country, city, language, or contact availability. This helps find influencers who fit demographically. Note that TikTok does not allow city-based searches. Once you activate contact options, you’ll only see profiles where our system has found email or phone data. Learn more here about how to use demographic filters for influencers and audiences.

About the Audience: Define followers’ age, gender, country, city, language, or interests. Choose between the entire follower base or the engaged community as your data source – this option is only available for Instagram and YouTube, not TikTok (as shown in the screenshot, where the dial next to the heading is greyed out). With the Audience Authenticity setting, you can ensure that only profiles with an active community and minimal fake following are shown. Learn more about this here.

Advanced Search Settings: Define criteria using MUST, CAN, or NOT to refine the search more precisely – e.g., MUST include #Fitness.

Useful Tips & Notes

Combine filters for precise results. We recommend gradually becoming more specific to avoid excluding too many profiles too quickly. This is especially important in smaller markets or niches, where searches can otherwise become too restrictive.

After running a search, you can directly view Discovery Reports, or add profiles to Favorites lists, Portfolios, or Campaigns. If you’d like to read more about how this works, we’ve already linked the relevant pages in this paragraph.
