How do I use Relations as social listening?

Learn how to use Relations to track and analyze networks and connections between brands and creators.

The Relations feature within Discovery in the IROIN® Influencer Marketing Suite is a powerful tool to analyze creator networks and gain targeted insights into brand mentions – essentially a social listening tool. With a Relations Report, you can see who has mentioned a brand and which competitors are particularly active.

In the screenshot below, you can see an example overview of all Relations Reports: you enter a channel name or a URL, and the report shows you a profile’s connections over the past six months, visually represented with markers for organic, sponsored, and unpaid mentions.

This way, you can instantly identify which brands are being mentioned by influencers, as well as which influencers are frequently tagged by others. It enables you to discover entire networks of creators.

How does Relations help with brand mentions?

Relations analyzes all publicly available Instagram feed posts and categorizes mentions into three types: organic mentions (genuine, unpaid mentions), sponsored content (paid collaborations), and unpaid advertising (mentions with a commercial context without sponsorship labeling). In the screenshot below, you can see the visual analysis: dots mark mentions over a period of time, e.g., from January to February, and show which profiles mentioned the creator or brand that was selected for a report. This helps you identify authentic partnerships and understand which brands and influencers are present within specific networks.

How do you analyze competitors with Relations?

Relations enables you to perform competitor analysis on a new level: you can see which influencers mention your competitors and which creators they collaborate with. In the Relations Report, you can specifically analyze networks – who works with whom, and which brands are active? This provides you with valuable insights to build strategic partnerships, identify untapped potential, and optimize your influencer marketing campaigns.

Currently, Relations is exclusively available for Instagram feeds, as Stories cannot be archived due to GDPR. Use the Relations Report to strategically expand your social media strategy while simultaneously running a powerful social listening tool for your competition.
