Learn how to resolve problems with Outlook integration and set up your account correctly for email sending.
Why isn’t my Outlook account working with Authenticated SMTP?
Microsoft Outlook has an additional security setting where Authenticated SMTP is disabled by default. To ensure your Outlook account works with Authenticated SMTP, there are two options:
-
Enable for a single account: Follow the instructions in this link to enable Authenticated SMTP for your personal account.
-
Enable globally for the entire organization (less secure): Follow the steps in [this link] to activate Authenticated SMTP globally. Please note that this method is considered less secure.
Why is Authenticated SMTP needed?
Authenticated SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is a protocol used to send emails over the internet. Our system uses Authenticated SMTP to send messages on your behalf. Without enabling it, the email integration cannot be completed successfully.
Why is the email integration failing? (Popup issues, error messages)
If the integration window closes immediately or you see an error message, possible reasons include:
-
Safari users: Please allow pop-ups for your IMS domain. You can follow the steps here: Allow or block pop-ups in Safari on Mac.
-
Alternative browser: Try connecting your email address using Google Chrome.
-
Ad blocker: Check whether an ad blocker is active and, if possible, disable it for your IMS domain.
Why isn’t my email integration working within the app?
If the integration fails within the app, check the following points:
-
Was the app created in the correct tenant?
-
Open Microsoft Azure.
-
Check the tenant name at the top right of the navigation bar.
-
-
Is the primary email domain correct?
-
Open Microsoft Azure and confirm that the correct primary domain is assigned to your email.
-
What if the app was created in the wrong tenant?
If the app was created in the wrong tenant, you have two options:
-
Re-create the app in the correct tenant in Azure.
-
Allow multiple organizations to access the app:
-
Open Microsoft Azure and navigate to the app registration.
-
Go to the Authentication menu.
-
Under Supported account types, select:
Accounts in any organizational directory (Any Microsoft Entra ID tenant – multitenant). -
Save the changes.
